Chimney Services

Chimney cleaning and inspection are often the last things on a homeowner’s maintenance list, however neglecting them can be costly and dangerous. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that more than 24,000 fires each year are caused by fireplaces, chimneys, and chimney connectors. Many of these are due to creosote buildup, a highly flammable substance that can accumulate even when the chimney hasn’t been used for months. Regular cleaning is essential for safety and should not be treated as a DIY project. As Kit Selzer, senior editor at Better Homes and Gardens explains: “Cleaning a chimney is not a do-it-yourself project. It’s a dirty job, and it can be risky, especially if you have to climb onto the roof.” Our specialists follow strict safety protocols and tailor cleaning methods to each fireplace type and manufacturer’s requirements, ensuring both your health and your home’s protection.

Chimney Rebuilds

Chimneys are often overlooked when working on home projects, however they are extremely important especially for safety reasons more so than simply aesthetics. Dislodged bricks, improperly installed caps and cracks can cause serious and rapid damage if not addressed within a reasonable amount of time. Our experienced masons ensure proper installation of all types of chimney caps, with a precise overhang and built-in pitch to allow for water drip without any deterioration to the masonry work. Rainfall is detrimental to most masonry structures and chimneys are definitely one to keep your eyes on since they are typically the first part of a masonry building to manifest signs of deterioration. There are other factors that also have an impact on a chimney’s lifetime such are usage, proper construction and maintenance.

If your chimney is beyond repair and needs to be rebuilt, it is extremely important that the chimney be constructed on a stable base and to the correct height to aid proper air drafting. Having a waterproofing protection plan in place will also maximize the chimney’s life span. Another important factor to keep in mind, when preparing for a project like this, is that many masonry chimneys have crowns that are improperly built. This is due to the fact that they are built with a common mortar mix rather than a specialized topping mix. Many old crowns cannot withstand extended adverse weather conditions like the ones we sometimes experience in our area, so they will crack, chip and breakdown very quickly. This degradation is what allows for water to enter the chimney, causing the need for chimney repairs and rebuilding. Lucky for you, we can turn the mess into a beautiful new chimney while ensuring that all the proper steps were taken to fix the problems you had been experiencing, as well as taking all precautionary measures possible for the future.

Chimney Relining

Keeping your chimney safe and working properly is important for every home here in Washington. Over time, the inside of a chimney can wear down from heat, moisture, or creosote, which can create cracks or gaps that make it unsafe to use. On top of that, building codes have changed over the years, so many older homes were built with chimneys that are only partially lined or not lined at all. Chimney relining is the best way to bring your system up to today’s safety standards while also improving how well it vents smoke and heat.

There are two main options when it comes to relining: stainless steel liners and HeatShield® resurfacing. Stainless steel liners are a strong, reliable choice that can last for decades. They create a brand-new pathway inside your chimney that’s tough, safe, and works with wood, gas, or oil appliances. HeatShield® is a newer technology designed to repair your existing clay tile liner. Instead of replacing everything, it seals cracks and smooths the surface, making your old liner work like new again.

Our company is proud to be certified to install the HeatShield® system, which means we’re trained and trusted to bring this advanced repair option to homeowners across Washington. Whether your chimney needs a durable stainless steel liner or the cost-effective HeatShield® repair, we’ll recommend the solution that’s best for your home and family, keeping your fireplace safe, efficient, and ready to enjoy for years to come.

Chimney Caps

A properly protected chimney does more than just look good, it keeps your home safe and your system working the way it should. Without the right cap or cover, rain, debris, and even animals can get inside your chimney, leading to damage and costly repairs down the road. We install a full range of chimney protection options, including chimney crowns, top-mount dampers, and chase covers, each designed to seal out the elements while allowing your fireplace to vent safely.

Every home is different, which is why sometimes a standard solution isn’t enough. In those cases, we provide custom chimney caps that are specially built to fit your chimney and style of home. Our team sources and installs these custom pieces to ensure your chimney is fully protected while enhancing the look of your roofline. Whether you need a simple replacement cap or a tailored solution, we’ll make sure your chimney is covered for years of reliable performance.
